<p>Bayern Munich&nbsp;sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has called for fans to be patient with <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/search?q=Sadio+Mane"><strong>Sadio Mane</strong></a>.</p>

<p>The Bayern chief believes it is only a matter of time before the 30-year-old Senegalese international&nbsp;finds his best form for the Bavarians following his summer switch from&nbsp;Liverpool.</p>

<p>Mane starred in Liverpool's team for six years, winning every major trophy available, before sealing his switch to Bayern for £35 million in June.</p>

<p>However, after a bright start to the season, Mane has seen himself struggle for consistency, later in the season, leading to some speculation that he is unhappy at his new club, but Salihamidzic has now brushed off such talks, claiming that Mane is still just settling in at his new club.</p>

<p>'Sadio still needs a little time, he has to get used to the Bundesliga too, but he will,' Salihamidzic was quoted to have told <em>Bild </em>via <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11259743/Bayern-Munich-chief-Hasan-Salihamidzic-backs-Sadio-Mane-success-Bundesliga.html">Daily Mail</a>.</p>

<p>Mane scored three goals in his opening three league games, while also finding the net in the German Super Cup and German Cup.</p>

<p>However, he has failed to find the back of the net in his last four league outings neither has he made any real impact in his two Champions League appearances for the team.</p>

<p>The 30-year-old Senegalese attacker has also been regularly substituted in recent weeks, a routine which was not regular during his time at Anfield.</p>

<p>And former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann, recently suggested that Mane doesn't look happy at Bayern, claiming the Senegalese star is being played out of position and hasn't been 'integrated' into the team properly.</p>

<p>But Salihamidzic disagrees with Hamaan's position, though, and expects Mane to prove his class for the Bundesliga champions as soon as possible.</p>

<p>Mane returns to action for fifth-placed Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Friday, September 30, 2022, as they welcome Bayer Leverkusen to the Allianz Arena.</p>

<p>Liverpool were hoping to recover from their nightmare start to their 2022/23 Champions League campaign when they welcomed Ajax to Anfield on Tuesday night, September 13, 2022.</p>

<p>The Merseyside reds suffered an emphatic 4-1 loss against Napoli in one of their worst performances under Jurgen Klopp.</p>

<p>However, the 2019 champions started brightly on the night with Mohamed Salah finally opening his Champions league account for the season after an assist from returning striker Diogo Jota in the 17th minute.</p>

<p>But the hosts' joy was short-lived as Ajax soon roared back into the game in brilliant fashion after a brilliant thunderbolt from Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus 10 minutes later, giving Alisson no chance of a save.</p>

<p>It was fiercely contested first-half with Liverpool creating the best chances in opening 45 but both sides went into the break all square.</p>

<p>The second half was really more of the same as both sides continued to search for the winner.</p>

<p>However, it was until the 89th minute when Joel Matip found the back of the net that Anfield erupted into wild celebrations, after Liverpool looked set to drop points for another consecutive game in the Champions League.</p>

<p>The highest individual accolade in football is set to be awarded once more in 2022.</p>

<p>France Football's highly-coveted award are set to release their annual shortlist of<a href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/2021-ballon-dor-check-out-the-best-dressed-to-the-award-ceremony/c1qghd6"> <strong>Ballon d'Or </strong></a>nominees on Friday, August 12 2022 for both the men's and women's prizes.</p>

<p>The shortlist for the men's award will contain 30 names while the women's award will be made up of 20 players.</p>

<p>There will also be 10-player shortlists which will also be announced for the Yashin (best goalkeeper) and Kopa (best under-21 player) awards on Friday as well.</p>

<p>The Ballon d'Or awards will finally be handed out at a gala event that will take place at the Theatre du Chatelet, in Paris on October 17, 2022.</p>

<p>The Ballon d'Or or Golden Ball award is an annual accolade organized by France Football and was conceived by Gabriel Hanot and Jacques Ferran.</p>

<p>The award was first presented in 1956 when Stanley Matthews of Blackpool won it with Alfredo Di Stefano and Raymond Kopa both of Real Madrid second and third.</p>

<p>Originally, the award was open to just European players, but in 1995 the criteria was expanded to players of any nationality playing at a European club.</p>

<p>In 2007 it was finally expanded again to become a global award. The first women's Ballon d'Or was awarded in 2018 with Ada Hegerberg of Lyon becoming the first woman on the planet to win the accolade.</p>

<p>Between 2010 and 2015, France Football and FIFA brought their respective awards - the Ballon d'Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year, together under the guise of the FIFA Ballon d'Or. However, that partnership ended in 2017.</p>

<h3>What is the Criteria for the 2022 Ballon d'Or Awards?</h3>

<p>The criteria for this year's award has slightly changed compared to previous years.</p>

<p>France Football have decided to base the award on a player's performance over a typical football season - so from August 1, 2021 to July 31, 2022 rather than being awarded for excellence over a calendar year.</p>

<p>With that in mind, some African footballers are expected to feature in this year's nominee list with the usual suspects of Senegal's <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/oshoala-wins-record-breaking-fifth-caf-award-as-mane-edges-out-salah-for-africas-best/jt76hk0"><strong>Sadio Mane</strong> </a>and Egypt's<a href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/sports/football/premier-league-liverpools-salah-aims-to-emulate-messi-ronaldo-when-he-turns-30-in/mvkdrt8"> <strong>Mohamed Salah</strong></a> leading the continent in the men's football category while Nigeria's<strong> </strong><a href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/sports-gist/asisat-oshoala-shows-off-5th-caf-womens-player-of-the-year-award/j1zh2hl"><strong>Asisat Oshoala</strong></a> is also expected to also feature in the women's list following her Pichichi award with Barca Femeni last season.</p>

<p>Having won the CAF Award for the Men's Player of the year, Mane won the AFCON earlier this year with Senegal while helping Liverpool to win two trophies domestically (FA Cup and Carabao Cup).</p>

<p>The Bayern Munich star also helped his former side reach the finals of the Champions League last season.</p>

<p>While Liverpool's Salah also achieved another individual feat winning two domestic trophies with Liverpool, leading his nation to the finals of the AFCON, which they lost as well as helping his side to the Champions League final.</p>

<p>The away team's sharpness soon paid off as midfielder Joshua Kimmich opened the scoring for Bayern via a spectacular free-kick just 5 minutes into kick-off, giving Frankfurt keeper Kevin Trapp, no chance as they took a 1-0 lead.</p>
