Music Business Academy for Africa wraps up successful 2023/2024 programme

With over 300+ graduates hailing from various African countries and the globe, this year’s cohort have left an indelible mark on the continent’s music industry.

Highlights of the Programme:

  1. Launch of the 2023 Cohort Website: The Tech team facilitated the launch of the website for the 2023 cohort (www.2023.mbaforafrica.com) with support from the students. The website covers details such as:

2.Songwriting Camp: The 2023 cohort engineered a 5 day songwriting camp where over 62 songs were recorded, with support from the Creative Industries Initiative For Africa (CIIFA) team, in partnership with Sony Music Publishing and The Orchard. From this, their album titled “Pepple Street” which showcases Africa’s diverse musical heritage was born.

3.6-Week Artist Camp: As part of the MBA For Africa Talent Project, which is the practical aspect of the programme, the students facilitated a six weeks development camp with support from the Creative Industries Initiative For Africa (CIIFA) team. The artists came from across Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya. They explored topics such as stage presence and vocal technique, preparing them for successful careers in the spotlight.

4.Album Listening Party: The MBA hosted an exclusive album listening event, where graduates unveiled their debut project. Attendees included industry insiders, media representatives, and music enthusiasts eager to discover fresh talent.

5.Graduation Event: A momentous occasion where certificates were presented, dreams were celebrated, and connections were forged. Graduates received personalized guidance from various speakers on navigating the complex music business landscape and life in general.

6.Concert: The grand finale! The talented artists from the MBA Talent Project took the stage, delivering electrifying performances of songs from the “Pepple Street'' Album that left the audience craving more.

The Music Business Academy for Africa remains dedicated to empowering the continent’s next music executives and building a workforce that is well equipped.
